WWE Hell in a Cell Recap

WWE Superstars battle inside a barbaric structure at Hell in a Cell. Sixteen thousand enthralled fans gathered to watch the world’s best wrestlers inside this twenty-foot tall, 500 ton steel structure.
Four-time tag team champions The New Day kicked off the night in a brawl against twin brothers Jimmy and Jay Uso for the tag team titles. Both sides took advantage of the no disqualification nature of the match. Chains and kendo sticks were used as legal weapons in the ring. At the start of the fight The New Day had an advantage but quickly fell victim to the Uso’s after brutal beating. The Uso’s emerged as the new WWE tag team champs.
The second match of the night featured the Viper, Randy Orton, in a duel with the Bulgarian Brute Rusev. Within the first few minutes of the fight Rusev targeted the ribs of Orton with hard blows and kicks. Orton’s resiliency proved victorious. Orton planted Rusev into the mat face-first with an “RKO”. For Rusev it was lights out and a three count for Orton.
Later in the event, Tye Dillinger, Baron Corbin and the United States Champion, AJ Styles, competed in a triple threat match for the United States Championship. Styles and Dillinger worked as a team for the first half of the match, their teamwork ineffective as Corbin gained the upper hand. Styles delivered a huge forearm to Dillinger but fell short of victory when kicked out of the ring by Corbin. Corbin’s ring awareness and speed allowed him to capitalize and pin Dillinger in the center of the mat.
Hell in a Cell is also home to the brave and beautiful WWE Diva’s. Women’s Champion Natalia Heart went one on one with Charlette Flair. Heart targeted the left knee of Flair early in the fight. Flair struggled to gain the advantage. Heart used a steel chair to beat Flair and was disqualified. Stipulations of the fight resulted in a win for Flair.
Shinsuke Nakamura faced WWE Champion Jinder Mahal for the title. Nakamura executed his Japanese style kicks and strikes. Mahal worked to weaken the limbs of Nakamura through strenuous submission holds to slow the pace of the fight. Mahal’s sneakiness would triumph over Nakamura’s tireless efforts. Mahal remained WWE Champion.
In addition to this thrilling fight, a heated rivalry between Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler was brought into the ring. Ziggler delivered powerful punches, neck- breakers and sleeper holds to Roode. Despite superb athleticism, Ziggler was unable to keep Roode down. Roode sent Ziggler shoulder first into the steel ring post. Roode rolled Ziggler into a pin and grabbed ahold of his tights for the victory.
The main event showcased Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens in a cage match with no count out, no disqualification, and a falls count anywhere stipulation. McMahon used his kick-boxing style to weaken Owens. Owens delivered a head butt to McMahon and slammed his face into the chain-link structure. McMahon executed an arm bar submission on Owns and beat him using half of a broken table. Twenty minutes into the match both men were exhausted, surviving on endurance and anger. Kevin climbed the perimeter of the cage. Shane followed. The roof of the cadge held a combined 500 pounds. After a vigorous exchange of hits and slams both men scaled down the cage. McMahon sent Owens crashing into the announce table. McMahon jumped twenty feet off the top of the cage to smash Owens. Owens scrambled out of the way. Shane landed on the floor. Owens crawled to pin McMahon for the three count. McMahon was taken out on a stretcher.
